SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy can be used to treat a range of injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system in areas of the body such as the feet and joints, including plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. It is a revolutionary solution, largely because these conditions are often so difficult to treat and can take a long time to heal. Our practitioners are highly experienced in using shockwave therapy to help reduce pain and promote healing, so there is no need to suffer in silence. Talk to us, and we will find the best way to help.

If you would like to ask us anything at all about shockwave therapy, please get in touch with our team. Call 01634 723 600 or email .

What is shockwave therapy?

Whilst still a relatively uncommon method of treatment, it has been used widely throughout Europe for many years and is known to be a very safe system. It was originally used as a non-invasive way to treat kidney stones and it is now used for tendon and soft tissue injuries as well. The process is simple, and treatment is quick. The use of shockwaves stimulates healing and can speed up the process. It is often offered where other treatments, such as steroid injections, have failed giving those who have been in long-term pain more hope of a faster recovery.

How could shockwave therapy help you?

Shockwave therapy can be used to treat a range of musculoskeletal issues, including:

  • Tennis elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Trochanteric pain syndrome

The treatment itself may be slightly painful, but many people say that the positives outweigh the negatives as it offers them relief from long-term, ongoing pain.

You will probably have been diagnosed with these issues before you are offered this therapy – it is still not widely available. However, if you are still in the process of being diagnosed, you might want to pay a visit to our podiatrists or osteopaths.
